SUE Programme

The Sustainable Urban Environment (SUE) programme is a £22m initiative supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Several ambitious multidisciplinary consortia have been funded, altogether involving more than 30 UK universities and over 120 project partners including local authorities, large and small companies, town planners and charities.

SUE aims to:

  • Develop and promote a strategic research agenda to address sustainability in the urban environment for the 21st century and beyond.
  • Strengthen the capability of the UK research base in sustainability issues within the urban environment.
  • Engage with end users of research in industry, commerce, and the public and service sector.

Some of the Key Research Outputs most likely to be of interest to practitioners and policy makers have been summarized for quick reference. They include an outline of the research area and contact details for those wishing to get further information.? These lists will be updated as further outputs are generated from SUE research groups.
