completed work
In the first phase of work the
ISSUES team held face to face discussions with the
Principal Investigators (PIs) from the first 12 research
consortia funded under the SUE Programme. These meetings
were based around a semi-structured series of questions
designed to explore knowledge transfer issues using
the experience of SUE PI's and their researchers.
The principal objectives of the discussions were:
- To explore at a qualitative level
how each consortium viewed the knowledge transfer process and where they
perceived the demands for their research outputs lay
- To summarise broad themes of the
research work undertaken, determine the non-academic project partners and the
wider range of potential stakeholders and end users
- To collate the experiences of the
PIs in operating large-scale consortia
The information from discussions was supplemented with work
the ISSUES team has done in collating and categorizing outputs from the SUE1
Consortia (click here for summary of outputs)
The ISSUES team also hosted an event at the end of September
2007 for members of the consortia to enable researchers to exchange their views
and experience of good practice in research dissemination (click here for details).
In this way a picture of the knowledge transfer issues relating
to the SUE research programme was built up from the perspective of the academic
researchers. The perspective of
knowledge transfer issues from stakeholders was examined in the next phase of work.
