Ebbsfleet Valley Challenge
Date: 15th and 16th April 2008
Venue: Ebbsfleet Valley
This event brought together SUE researchers and urban development professionals to discuss how SUE research outputs could be used on a real site - part of the Thames Gateway Development. By focussing on this multi-faceted urban development project we brought together diverse contributions from the SUE consortia and site developers. The event allowed participants to explore the potential application of research outcomes for the site and how practical considerations might affect such application in practice. The attendees at the event were SUE researchers, those involved in the delivery of the development, and other relevant stakeholders.
The event began with a tour of the development site on the first evening, where the SUE researchers were introduced to the development site and surrounding areas. Over second day SUE researchers and representatives presented the outputs of their research thought to be of most use to the developers and other practitioners involved with the development. Extremely enlightening to all involved, the dynamic discussions on sustainability and the urban and built environment highlighted many key issues to do with knowledge exchange and the links between research and practice.
Outputs from this event will be available on our website soon.
