collation and categorization of sue1 outputs
In order to do this, a list of
categories for consortia outputs was developed to draw out differences
in dissemination activities. Some output categories are mainly relevant
to academic audiences, others are more likely to reach industry
partners, and others are deemed to appeal to wider stakeholder
audiences (go to definitions). Categorized outputs were sent to
individual consortia for checking and updating, and communication with
the consortia was used to adjust and update the outputs database. This
database has also been used to produce histograms of dissemination
outputs of the different SUE Clusters (see below).
Different colours have been used to represent
the different consortia. The histograms have been created from the number
of outputs in each category. In this instance this data is presented in
its raw form, without any adjustments or weightings for impact or value.
In addition, no adjustment has been made at this stage to reflect the
fact that some consortia have are near completion, whilst others still
have some time to go.
Further work may be conducted to develop
appropriate adjustments and weightings to highlight good practice in
research dissemination. The figures in the histograms are expected to
change as more consortia progress through their research and reach completion.

Any papers published in peer-reviewed academic journals only. These
include papers that have been accepted but not yet published but not
those pending acceptance.
Publications - Conference
Papers: Any papers accepted to academic conferences that were
not restricted to members of the consortium and industrial partners.
Conference Presentations
(including poster presentations): As for conference papers.
Publications - Reports:
Any non-internal reports (excluding reports to consortium members but
including those to industrial partners). For example: a case study of a
housing association or a report aimed at informing policy on waste
management.
Publications - Books / Book
Chapters: Any books or book chapters published by the
consortium.
Publications - Other:

in terms of usefulness. For example: leaflets giving advice on saving
water or energy.
Articles in Trade Journals:
Any articles in non-academic journals whose circulation is aimed at
members of professional bodies and/or industry.
Tools / Methodologies:
Any tools or methodologies developed by the consortium, the use of
which is not restricted to the research conducted by the consortium.
For example: a new method for assessing a building's thermal
performance, a testing rig for measuring air flow through a
façade, or new software for modelling solar access.
Dissemination Activities -
Industrial Partners: Any events or activities organised by
the consortium or its industrial partners at which consortium outputs
were presented. Steering group meetings are included where consortium
outputs were presented to industrial partners.
Dissemination Activities -
Professional Bodies: Any events or activities organised by or
attended by the consortium at which consortium outputs were presented
that were also attended by members of professional organisations.
Dissemination Activities -
Wider Audiences: Any events or activities organised by or
attended by the consortium at which consortium outputs were presented
where attendees are drawn from a wider field than just industrial
partners or professional bodies.
Articles / Interviews in the
Media: Any articles or interviews in the media that are
accessible to the general public (i.e. not academic or trade
publications). For example: newspaper and magazine articles, radio or
TV interviews, etc. Please provide concise details of each within the
same spreadsheet cell.
PhD students trained/training:
The number of PhD students who have been funded by the consortium and
have are completing/have completed their PhDs or have had their viva
date fixed.
